In the field of fashions, Łódź may be proud of the Clothing Section at the Department of Textile Clothing of the Academy of Fine Arts, the only one of this type in Poland. Due to the new and attractive methods applied during active studies, and wide options for practical training, numerous clothing designers graduate from this department every year. They are highly qualified and very well prepared for work in clothing industry.

Agata Wojtkiewicz, the Academy of Fine Arts graduate, and her brother Piotr Wojtkiewicz have opened an establishment combining the functions of a boutique Gala Simple Chic with cafe - Pret a Cafe. The place is famous because of its climate and original character (it was granted the Interior of the Year award presented by the President of Łódź).

The Polish Fashion Chamber is very active in the field of fashion. During the year the Chamber organizes numerous fashion shows and competitions. The competition for the Designer of the Year and Manufacturer of the Year, held in May, are among the most popular ones.

Another prestigious event is the Golden Thread competition organized during the International Łódź Fairs. It is one of the most valued competitions for clothing designers, present on the list of events already for 13 years.
