In £ód¼ you may face the art. of theatre in many places.

Teatr Wielki (the Opera House) is the second largest opera house in Poland and one of the largest in Europe, with 1300 seats. It was opened in 1967. Up till now ca. 170 premieres have been presented therein.

The Powszechny Theatre was opened in 1945 r. It is one of the 6 theatres in Poland with the largest number of spectators coming to see the plays. One of the reason is undoubtedly the yearly
Festival of Nice and Not-so-nice Plays, presenting the best plays in Poland. Also the Nowy Theatre has a long tradition, coming back to 1949 r.

And in the Muzyczny Theatre, celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, you may see excellent musicals. The Stefan Jaracz Theatre is the oldest one in £ód¼, continuator of the long tradition of the Polish scenes in £ód¼.

There are over a dozen of theatres in £ódæ and anyone may find a one to his or her liking. Apart from the above mentioned ones, the very well known are: Teatr Studyjny, Teatr Logos, Teatr Lalek „Arlekin", Teatr Lalki i Aktora „Pinokio", Teatr Ognia i Papieru, Teatr 77, Teatr Antrakt, Teatr Forum.
